Lily will be in preschool in a few short weeks, and there is no more belted booster seat at my kitchen table. I no longer have babies; they're toddlers.
Summer always brings a list of "things that need to get done", because god forbid a working mother like me can juggle it all. Some of those necessary things are projects and to-do lists. But, more importantly, they are the activities and fun things I want to share and experience with Lily and Jack...you know, to make the most of it! I really tried to slow down this summer and savor it all, really I did. But here we are, and the only thing left is the memories. Looking at our pictures from the past three months reminds that it really did all get done. How do I know? The smiles on my children's faces...they're truly happy, because being with your mama and daddy is all a 1 and 3 year old wants. And that, we gave them.
I'm so lucky to have a job that allows me an entire season home with my family. I wouldn't have it any other way. Even though the summer of 2009 was "backwards" in many ways, we had a blast. They woke me up early, but I got to have breakfast with the most handsome little man in my life every day. My "sleepless beauty" gave me nightmare nap times, but I got to be her playtime buddy and remember the excitement of childhood. My "teething runaway" made me work super hard, but I got millions of squishy hugs. We got to hang out with the grandparents any day of the week we wanted, visit with our greatly missed Uncle B and Kathleen "Poppins", and go to our friends' houses just because. Daddy was even home for a quite a few weeks. We took many trips to the zoo, around the neighborhood and up to watch the train. Hopefully, that's what Lily and Jack will remember...the little stuff...and, that their mama and daddy were there.
Enjoy our summer in pictures...

Miss you!!!
As always...GREAT pictures! We're happy to have spent part of the summer with you and Jack.
Michelle you have such a way with words. I couldn't have said it better myself. Wow! How cute your two little ones are. I can't believe how Jack looks like such a big boy now. It seems like yesterday Carol and I were visiting you when he was just born. Love to see the pictures.
Love it all!
Absolutely loved all the summer pictures. Glad to see everyone having so much fun. Lv, Aunt Carol
