Winter Wonderland

We woke up to a beautiful snow-filled yard this morning. Last night was one of those nights where you sit by Christmas tree light and drink a glass of wine just to watch the snow fall in the dark. This morning brought Jack and me each rushing to be the first one to open the blinds for Lily to see. Remember the magic that fresh, untouched morning snow brought as a child. What possibilities!

Luckily, today is Sunday...so Jack is home. If anyone loves the winter, it's him. And he made sure his daughter took full advantage of the day, too. In a effort to wear her out from fresh air for a good nap...oops...I mean let her experience the season...we took her outside not once, not twice, but three times today.

She happily ran, crawled, used her sled, tasted snow after a face plow (without tears, I might add) and climbed "mountains"...as she called the hills of a retention ditch.

Notice the smiles...

...we all had a great time...

...until someone decided that the 10 minute nap in the car was all she needed to get through the day. No more sleep for her. I guess we got out-witted!

Boy will Kit be jealous. It does look beautiful, sorry to have missed it (maybe). Wish Kit could have been there to go sledding with her pal Lily.

Love the pictures! Looks like you all had a great time.
I think the last time I went sledding was w/ Aunt Susie, Brenden & Scott one year we came up for Christmas. It looks like Lily is a bigger fan of snow than I was :)

Lily seems a bit more adventurous in the snow than Sophie is! Did you go to the retention area by Don's/Jr's? What great memories we both have of sledding there! Glad to hear you all had a fun day!

What a great day, us "valley kids" only wake up to that once every 100years! We'll have to bring Kennedy up sometime when you guys are expecting a winter storm. She thought the fake snow in the mall where Santa sits was the greatest thing, imagine if she saw the real thing!
